Irish American Soda Bread

Total Time: 1 hr 5 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 45 mins

Ingredients

  • 3 cups unbleached flour (all-purpose)
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup splenda sugar substitute
  • 1 cup golden raisins or 1 cup black raisins
  • 1/4 cup egg beaters egg substitute
  • 1 3/4 cups buttermilk or 1 3/4 cups soured milk
  • 4 tablespoons butter or 4 tablespoons margarine, melted

Recipe

  • 1 in large bowl,whisk together flour,baking powder,baking soda, splenda and raisins.
  • 2 in separate bowl whisk together egg beater,buttermilk and melted butter.
  • 3 quickly stir wet ingredients into dry ingred.
  • 4 pour batter into greased 9x5" loaf pan.
  • 5 bake bread in preheated 375 degree oven 45 minutes to an hour or till cake tester comes out clean.
