Gingerbread

Total Time: 56 mins Preparation Time: 6 mins Cook Time: 50 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 9
  • 2 1/3 cups flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 3/4 cup hot water
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg

Recipe

  • 1 heat oven to 325°.
  • 2 grease and flour square 9 x 9 pan.
  • 3 beat all ingredients on low, scraping sides, for 1 minute.
  • 4 beat on medium for 3 minutes.
  • 5 pour into prepared pan.
  • 6 bake for about 50 minutes or until cake tests done.
