Ingredients

- 2 1/3 cups flour
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 cup molasses
- 3/4 cup hot water
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
Recipe
- 1 heat oven to 325°.
- 2 grease and flour square 9 x 9 pan.
- 3 beat all ingredients on low, scraping sides, for 1 minute.
- 4 beat on medium for 3 minutes.
- 5 pour into prepared pan.
- 6 bake for about 50 minutes or until cake tests done.
