Gingerbread

Ingredients
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 cup light molasses
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup boiling water (do not put in the bowl yet)
Recipe
- 1 slowly add the contents of the small bowl, alternating with 1/2 cup boiling water.
- 2 beat until creamy.
- 3 grease and wax paper an 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan.
- 4 bake at 350 (325 for glass pan) for 30-40 minutes.
- 5 remove from pan while still warm.
