Ice Water Angel Food Cake

Total Time: 30 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 25 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 12
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups ice water
  • 3 1/2 cups cake flour (sifted)
  • 4 egg whites (stiffly beaten)
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

Recipe

  • 1 cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy; add vanilla.
  • 2 remove ice from water and add 1 1/2 c water alternately with sifted flour in 3 additions, beating well after each addition; add baking powder.
  • 3 fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
  • 4 bake in three greased 9"layer pans (or one 9x14 pan) at 375 for 25 minute.
  • 5 do not overbake.
  • 6 frost with your choice of frosting or cool whip frosting.
