Ice Water Angel Food Cake

Ingredients

- 1/2 cup shortening
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups ice water
- 3 1/2 cups cake flour (sifted)
- 4 egg whites (stiffly beaten)
- 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
Recipe
- 1 cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy; add vanilla.
- 2 remove ice from water and add 1 1/2 c water alternately with sifted flour in 3 additions, beating well after each addition; add baking powder.
- 3 fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
- 4 bake in three greased 9"layer pans (or one 9x14 pan) at 375 for 25 minute.
- 5 do not overbake.
- 6 frost with your choice of frosting or cool whip frosting.
