French Toast

Total Time: 12 hrs 20 mins Preparation Time: 12 hrs Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • 8 slices french bread (sliced to 1/2-inch)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice (or to make it extra fancy, grand marnier)
  • 2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine
  • powdered sugar

Recipe

  • 1 arrange bread in glass baking dishes in a single layer.
  • 2 in a medium bowl, whisk together sugar, eggs, vanilla, milk, salt and oj.
  • 3 pour over bread.
  • 4 gently turn the bread to coat both sides of bread with liquid.
  • 5 cover and refrigerate overnight.
  • 6 in hot butter in skillet, sauté bread until golden brown, about 4 minutes each side.
  • 7 sprinkle with confectioners sugar.
