Mattie's Jam Cake

Ingredients

• 2 1/2 cups brown sugar
• 2 cups sour milk
• 4 cups flour
• 3/4 cup butter
• 2 cups jam
• 2 teaspoons baking soda
• 3 teaspoons cinnamon
• 2 teaspoons cloves
• 2 teaspoons nutmeg
• 3 eggs
• 15 ounces raisins
• 1 cup nutmeats
• dried fig (optional)
• dates (optional)

Recipe

• 1 mix all ingredients together well except jam.
• 2 lastly, gently stir in the 2c jam.
• 3 pour into greased and floured 9" round cake pans.
• 4 bake in 325 degree oven for 35-40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
• 5 if desired, serve caramel icing.
