Grand Marnier Cake Ii

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3 eggs, separated
  • 2 cups flour, unsifted
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 orange, zest of, grated
  • 1/4 cup almonds, chopped
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/3 cup grand marnier
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons blanched slivered almonds

Recipe

  • 1 cream butter and sugar.
  • 2 beat in egg yolks.
  • 3 add flour, baking powder and baking soda alternately with sour cream, beating until smooth.
  • 4 stir in orange rind and chopped almonds.
  • 5 fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
  • 6 pour into buttered 9-inch tube pan.
  • 7 bake in moderate 350 degree fahrenheit oven about 50 minutes.
  • 8 mix orange juice, grand marnier, and sugar together; spoon over hot cake in pan.
  • 9 decorate top with almonds.
  • 10 cool before removing from pan.
