Ginger Bars (gingerbread Cake)

Ingredients

  • Servings: 24
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Recipe

  • 1 in a mixing bowl, cream shortening and sugar.
  • 2 add eggs; beat well.
  • 3 beat in water and molasses.
  • 4 combine flour, baking soda, and spices; add molasses mixture.
  • 5 spread into a greased 15 x 10 x 1 pan.
  • 6 bake at 350 degrees for 20-22 minutes, or until bars are done.
  • 7 cool.
  • 8 dust with confectioner's sugar.
