Decorator Cake Icing

Total Time: 10 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 lb 10x powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup shortening (prefer crisco)
  • 1/4 cup water (room temp)
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 3 drops butter flavoring (found with other extracts etc in cake decorator aisle)
  • any food coloring

Recipe

  • 1 mix all ingredients on low. great for a kitchen aid mixer but hard on the arm if using a old time mixer. add color a few drops at a time until desired color is acheived.
  • 2 you can also drop color into water if mixing several different colors to acheive a certain color.
  • 3 pack into sleeve with tip needed and decorate!
  • 4 **tip** if using for several different colors that won't need a lot of icing like making flowers etc, mix beofre adding color and separate into several different sections then add coloring a little at a time to acheive color needed**.
