Gingerbread

Total Time: 55 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 45 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup molasses
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk

Recipe

  • 1 combine the flour, spices, and the baking soda in one bowl. set aside.
  • 2 cream butter and sugar. stir in egg. add molasses and buttermilk/water. mix the dry ingredients into the wet until just smooth.
  • 3 bake at 350º f for 45 minutes if you use an 8-inch loaf pan or for 25 minutes if you use an 8x8 square pan.
