Lime Chocolate Cake

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 3 eggs
  • 250 ml sugar
  • 100 ml all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 75 ml cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 250 g quark
  • 1 lime, zest of

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 200°c.
  • 2 grease and flour a 22 - 24 cm round cake pan (with a removable bottom).
  • 3 beat eggs and sugar with an electric mixer until thick and cream-coloured.
  • 4 combine flour, baking powder, cocoa powder, vanilla sugar and salt; add to the egg and sugar mixture, mixing carefully.
  • 5 add quark and lime zest, stir to combine.
  • 6 pour batter into the prepared pan and bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes (depending on how soft you want the cake to be).
  • 7 let the cake cool before removing it from the pan.
  • 8 dust the cake with powdered sugar, decorate with thin lime slices and serve with whipped cream.
